The Meridian SatinAir is a combination therapy mattress system that provides both alternating pressure and low air loss to optimize pressure redistribution and manage skin maceration. The pump offers a static feature as well as adjustable comfort settings by patient weight. The nylon zipper cover is low shear, fluid-resistant and vapor permeable. CPR valve allows for quick deflation. The Meridian SatinAir is an innovative design ideal for use in nursing homes, hospitals and the home care environment.
What causes bed sores (pressure ulcers)?
Patients with immobility or perceptual problems who remain bedridden for extended periods can develop open sores at points where the weight of the body compresses the skin, often under bony prominences like the hips, heals or shoulders. These sores are called pressure ulcers.
What helps prevent and heal bed sores?
The alternating pressure mattress replacement system helps in pressure ulcer treatment and management by shifting pressure to different parts of the body in a repeating cycle, which prevents any body area from being under pressure all the time. The air cells alternately inflate and deflate to reduce interface pressure to aid in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers, otherwise known as bed sores. Low air loss helps provide a dry, cool climate under the body and skin.
