A trapeze bar is a mobility assistive device used by patients who are confined to a bed for long periods of time, have limited lower body mobility, and who use assistive devices such as a wheelchair in the home. As a repositioning device, a patient can safely and independently shift themselves in bed to find a more comfortable position and to prevent bedsores. It can also be used as a transfer device to get in and out of a bed. A trapeze can also be used to do upper body exercise and rehabilitation.
Trapeze bars are designed to be used as freestanding, where they are mounted to a floor stand. This allows it to be used with most standard and hospital beds and allows it to be used in various positions. Bariatric models can only be used with a floor stand. The trapeze can be mounted directly onto a bed if the bed is a hospital bed with a metal frame.
The triangular handlebar chain can be adjusted from 43 inches to 52 inches. It can also slide to the desired position from the edge of the headboard to the end of the boom easily, ensuring maximum comfort. Rubber bumper guards protect walls from scratching. The trapeze is designed to support up to 250 pounds on standard models, with bariatric 450 and 600 pound versions also available.
The Lumex standard trapeze is available in chrome-plated and grey powder-coated versions, with a matching floor stand as optional.
