Description

When a patient is in the 450–600 lb range, the options get narrow fast. Most patient lifts aren’t built for this. The Lumex® LF1090 Bariatric Easy Lift is — with a 600 lb capacity, a reinforced heavy-gauge steel frame, and a 6-point spreader bar that accepts more sling types than any other bariatric lift we carry. It’s built and warranted by Graham-Field, one of the longest-standing names in American healthcare equipment, and it ships with an accessory storage bag already included. For families navigating high-capacity home care, this is a lift built to the task.

Why We Like This Lift

The LF1090 earns its place in our lineup because of what it gets right for high-capacity home care. The rubber-coated base legs are a detail that matters in a real home — they protect baseboards and furniture in the tight spaces where transfers happen. The 6-point bar that tilts and rotates means you’re not fighting sling compatibility on top of everything else a bariatric care situation already demands. And the 3-year frame warranty from Graham-Field tells you something about how this lift is built — it’s the kind of confidence a manufacturer only puts in writing when the product earns it. The storage bag is a small thing, but it’s the kind of small thing that signals someone thought about daily home use, not just the spec sheet. If your patient is under 400 lbs, the Lumex LF1050 is the same lift at a lower capacity and lower price — same rubber base, same storage bag, same warranty.

Best for…

Patients in the 450–600 lb range who have outgrown standard-capacity lifts
Home care situations where two caregivers are available for transfers
Caregivers who already own 2-, 4-, or 6-point slings and need a lift that works with all of them
Families stepping down from institutional or facility care who need a clinical-grade lift at home
Post-surgical recovery or long-term home care for bariatric patients
Homes where wall and furniture protection during transfers is a concern

Feature Highlights

600 lb Capacity — Built for Where Standard Lifts Stop

The LF1090 is rated to 600 lbs, evenly distributed — verified from the Graham-Field spec sheet. That capacity is the starting point for this lift, not a ceiling most users approach. For patients in the 450–600 lb range, having that margin matters: it means the lift is working well within its design limits, not at the edge of them.

6-Point Spreader Bar — Works With Every Sling Style You Own

The LF1090’s 6-point spreader bar rotates a full 360° and tilts to adjust the patient’s position during a lift — a comfort and safety feature that matters when a patient is fully suspended. It accepts Lumex 2-, 4-, and 6-point slings, which means if you already have slings from a previous lift or facility, there’s a good chance they’ll work here. This is the most flexible sling compatibility of any bariatric lift we carry.

Rubber-Coated Base Legs — A Detail That Protects Your Home

The base legs are coated in rubber rather than bare metal or powder coat alone. In practice, this means the lift can be maneuvered close to walls, bed frames, and furniture without leaving marks or gouges — something that matters when the lift is used multiple times a day in the same room. It’s a feature found on the Lumex line specifically, and one that distinguishes it from most other lifts in this category.

24V DC Motor — Quiet and Smooth at Full Capacity

The 24V DC motor operates quietly — a genuine consideration when transfers happen multiple times a day and the sound of machinery affects a patient’s comfort and willingness to cooperate. The hand pendant gives smooth up-and-down control. The control box includes a multi-stage battery indicator and alarm system: two beeps for low battery, three for critically low, six for very low, and three long beeps for an overload condition. You always know the lift’s status before a transfer begins.

5.0” Floor Clearance — Fits Under Most Standard Beds

The LF1090’s low base profile — 5.0” of floor clearance — allows the base legs to slide under most standard bed frames, positioning the lift directly over the patient for a straight vertical lift rather than an angled one. This matters for patient comfort and for reducing the physical effort required from the caregiver during positioning.

Made in the USA — Graham-Field, Atlanta, Georgia

The Lumex LF1090 is designed and built by GF Health Products (Graham-Field) in Atlanta, Georgia — one of the oldest and most established names in American home medical equipment. Graham-Field has been manufacturing patient care products for decades, and the Lumex line is their flagship patient lift platform. Domestic manufacturing means parts availability, domestic tech support at 1.770.368.4700, and a company with a long track record of standing behind its products.

3-Year Frame Warranty — Backed in Writing

The LF1090 carries a 3-year limited warranty on the frame and spreader bar, 2 years on the actuator, and 1 year on the batteries — verified from the Graham-Field spec sheet. For a bariatric lift used in intensive daily care, that warranty coverage is meaningful. It signals a manufacturer confident enough in their build quality to put it in writing for three years.

Your Options at Checkout

Sling (Choose One, or Order the Lift Only)

The LF1090 works with Lumex 2-, 4-, and 6-point slings. You can purchase the lift without a sling if you already own compatible Lumex slings, or bundle it with one of these:

No Sling
Choose this if you already have Lumex-compatible slings in the correct size for your patient.
Full Body Mesh Sling with Commode Opening
Supports the patient from head to thigh with an opening at the base so the sling can stay in place during toileting. Eliminates removing and reattaching the sling for bathroom transfers — especially valuable in a bariatric care routine where each transfer requires more effort.
Full Body Divided Leg Sling with Head Support
Separate leg sections create a more secure fit and reduce the chance of the patient sliding forward during the lift. Preferred when more positional control is needed. Includes head support.
Full Body Mesh Bathing Sling with Head Support
Open mesh construction drains water and dries quickly for shower or tub transfers. Head support included.

Slings are available in multiple sizes. Proper sling fit is especially important at higher capacities — call or chat with us before ordering if you’re not certain of the right size.

Digital Scale (Optional)

The DSC250 digital scale attaches between the spreader bar and sling and weighs the patient during each lift — up to 600 lbs. For bariatric patients where weight monitoring is part of a care plan, this eliminates a separate and difficult weigh-in process entirely.

Battery and Charger Kit (Optional)

A second battery and external charger cradle lets you charge one battery while using the other. In a high-use bariatric care situation where the lift runs multiple transfers daily, a spare battery eliminates downtime.

Setup and Safety Notes

The LF1090 ships in one carton. At 137 lbs, assembly requires two people — do not attempt to remove or assemble the lift from the box alone. Assemble it in the room where it will be used before the first transfer.

Charge the battery fully before first use — allow 10 to 12 hours on the initial charge
Keep base legs in the widest position during all lifting and lowering
Close the base legs before moving the lift between positions
Do not lock the brakes or block the wheels during a lift — casters must be free to roll so the lift can stabilize as the patient is raised
Always maneuver the lift by its handle — never push on the mast, boom, actuator, or patient
Keep the patient centered over the base at all times during a transfer
Use only Lumex slings designed specifically for the LF1090 — non-Lumex slings void the warranty and create injury risk
Never exceed the 600 lb weight capacity
This lift is designed for transfer only — moving a patient from one point to another (bed to chair, chair to commode) — not for transporting a patient across a room or facility while suspended
Two caregivers recommended

Graham-Field strongly recommends that two caregivers participate in every transfer with the LF1090. Consult your healthcare provider or physical therapist before establishing a lift routine at home.

Medicare and Insurance

The Lumex LF1090 is designed to meet the requirements of HCPCS code E0635, a category that Medicare Part B may partially reimburse when prescribed as medically necessary by a physician.

ADHME doesn’t bill insurance directly — our pricing model is built around keeping costs low, and direct billing adds overhead that works against that. But every purchase comes with a detailed paid invoice that includes the HCPCS code, which you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement. We recommend calling your insurer before you order to confirm your coverage and any documentation requirements.

Pair It With

Compatible patient lift slings — Lumex 2-, 4-, and 6-point slings in multiple styles and sizes
Hospital bed — an adjustable-height hospital bed simplifies positioning the lift and reduces caregiver strain during setup
Bariatric commode chair — pairs with the commode-opening sling for bathroom transfers; look for a commode rated to match your patient’s weight
For the caregiver What to tell your loved one

This lift was built specifically for people who need more support than a standard lift provides. It’s not a compromise or a workaround — it’s engineered for this. The sling is designed to distribute weight evenly and keep you comfortable throughout the transfer. We’ll go slowly, and you’ll have two of us here every time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use slings I already own with this lift?

The LF1090 is compatible with Lumex 2-point, 4-point, and 6-point slings specifically designed for this lift. If you have existing slings, check that they are Lumex-brand and rated for at least 600 lbs before using them with this lift. Using non-Lumex slings voids the warranty and creates a safety risk. If you’re not sure whether your existing slings are compatible, call us before ordering — we’d rather help you sort it out first.

Can this lift pick someone up from the floor?

The LF1090 has a minimum spreader bar height of 22”, which means it is not designed for floor-level transfers the way some lower-capacity lifts are. The Lumex user manual includes a floor-lifting procedure, but given the weight capacity involved and the 22” minimum height, we strongly recommend discussing floor-transfer needs with your healthcare provider before attempting this — and having two caregivers present in any case.

Does Medicare cover this lift?

The LF1090 is designed to meet the requirements of HCPCS code E0635, which Medicare Part B may partially reimburse when prescribed as medically necessary. ADHME doesn’t bill Medicare directly, but we provide a paid invoice with the HCPCS code so you can submit for reimbursement yourself. Contact Medicare or your supplemental insurer before purchasing to confirm your benefits and any required documentation.
