Full-Body Electric Lift Support Up to 600 Pounds
When a patient is in the 500–600 lb range, most lifts simply aren’t an option. The Protekt® 600 (Model 33600) by Proactive Medical is built specifically for this situation — a battery-powered electric patient lift rated to 600 lbs, with a wide stable base, clip-free sling hookups for faster transfers, and a modular design that allows for easy parts replacement over the long life of the lift.
Built on the same proven platform as the Protekt 500, it brings everything that lift does well and adds the capacity that bariatric care demands. It’s the highest-capacity lift in the Proactive lineup and one of the most capable lifts in our full selection of electric patient lifts.

Why We Like This Lift
The Protekt 600 is the lift we reach for when the patient is in the upper bariatric range and we need to be confident the equipment is built for it — not just rated for it on paper. The 45” open base width gives real stability at full load. The clip-free sling hookups mean less fumbling during a transfer when every second counts. And the modular design for easy parts replacement tells you something about how Proactive Medical built this lift — they expect it to be in service long enough to need maintenance, which is exactly what you want from equipment this important. If your patient is in the 400–500 lb range, the Protekt 500 33500 is the right step down — same platform, same features, lower capacity and lower price.

Feature Highlights
600 lb Capacity — The Top of the Proactive Lineup
The Protekt 600 is rated to 600 lbs — the highest capacity in the Proactive patient lift lineup. For patients in the 500–600 lb range, this lift provides the margin that matters: it’s working well within its design limits rather than at the edge of them. That margin affects safety, longevity, and the confidence of the caregiver using it every day.
45” Open Base Width — Stability at Full Load
The 33600’s base opens to 45” — wider than the Protekt 500’s 39.3” maximum. At 600 lbs, that wider footprint provides meaningful additional stability during a transfer. The ergonomic foot pedal opens and closes the base hands-free, keeping both hands available for the patient throughout the process.
Clip-Free Sling Hookups — Faster, Safer Transfers
Traditional sling hookups use metal clips or hooks that can be awkward and time-consuming to connect, especially with a heavier patient in position. The Protekt 600’s clip-free hookup system simplifies attachment and reduces the chance of an incorrect connection — improving safety and reducing the time and effort of every transfer.
Modular Design — Easy Parts Replacement for Long-Term Service
The Protekt 600 is built with a modular design that allows individual components to be replaced easily without replacing the entire lift. For a piece of equipment used multiple times a day in demanding bariatric care situations, the ability to service and repair rather than replace is a significant practical and financial advantage. Proactive Medical parts are available through ADHME and directly from the manufacturer.
21.5” Minimum Lifting Height — Floor Transfers Possible
The Protekt 600 has a lifting height range of 21.5” to 68.6” at the sling hook-up — verified from the Proactive Medical owner’s manual. The 21.5” minimum is low enough to position a sling under a patient following a floor-level fall in most home and facility environments. If floor transfers are a regular part of care rather than an emergency measure, confirm this range works for your specific setup before ordering.
Battery-Powered Electric Operation — Full Control, No Physical Effort
The 33600 runs on a 24V rechargeable battery pack rated at 5AH and delivers up to 20 full lift cycles per charge under full load. The hand pendant gives smooth, controlled up-and-down operation — no pumping, no physical effort to raise or lower the patient. The lift operates at just 11db with no load and 16db under full load — quiet enough that the sound of the motor won’t add to a patient’s anxiety during a transfer. The LCD display shows battery status at all times, with audible and visual warnings at low and critical battery levels. An emergency stop button disables the lift instantly, and a manual emergency lowering device handles power failure safely.

Your Options at Checkout
Sling (Choose One, or Order the Lift Only)
The Protekt 600 works with Proactive Medical slings in 2-, 4-, and 6-point styles. You can purchase the lift without a sling if you already own compatible Proactive Medical slings, or bundle it with one of these:
Slings come in multiple sizes. Proper sling fit is especially important at higher capacities — call or chat with us before ordering if you’re not certain of the right size or weight rating for your patient.
Digital Scale (Optional)
Attaches between the spreader bar and sling and displays the patient’s weight during each lift — up to 600 lbs. For bariatric patients where weight monitoring is part of a care plan, this is the most practical way to weigh someone who cannot stand on a standard scale.
Battery and Charger Kit (Optional)
Includes one Protekt battery pack and one external battery charger cradle with power cord. Charge one battery while using the other — no downtime between transfers. Essential for high daily transfer volume.
BATTERY NOTE: The battery and cradle can be purchased separately in the “Frequently bought with” section under the product photos above. Or select the kit, which includes both, in the product options when you’re adding to the cart.
Setup and Safety Notes
The Protekt 600 ships in one box. Given the unit weight and the capacity involved, two people are recommended for unboxing, assembly, and all transfers. Assemble it in the room where it will primarily be used before the first transfer.
The owner’s manual recommends having a doctor, nurse, or medical attendant present during the first few transfers with a new patient. Consult your healthcare provider or physical therapist before establishing a lift routine at home or in a facility. Two caregivers are strongly recommended for all transfers at this capacity.

This lift was built for exactly this situation — not adapted from something lighter, not pushed to its limit. It’s rated to 600 pounds and designed to make every transfer smooth and controlled. The sling connects quickly, the pendant does all the lifting, and we’ll both be here every time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a Hoyer lift?
Hoyer is a brand name that has become a widely used term for any full-body electric patient lift — similar to how Kleenex is used for tissue. The Protekt 600 is a Proactive Medical battery-powered electric patient lift that does everything most people mean when they say Hoyer lift. At 600 lbs capacity, it handles patients that standard Hoyer-style lifts typically cannot.
How does this compare to the Protekt 500 33500?
The Protekt 600 and Protekt 500 are built on the same platform with the same features — clip-free sling hookups, 6-point spreader bar, foot pedal base, modular design, and battery-powered electric operation. The differences are capacity (600 vs. 500 lbs) and base width (45” vs. 39.3” open). If your patient is comfortably under 500 lbs, the Protekt 500 is the right choice. If you need the full 600 lb capacity or want the wider base for additional stability, the Protekt 600 is the step up.
Which slings are rated for patients over 450 lbs?
The full body mesh sling with commode opening is rated to the full 600 lb capacity and is suitable for any patient on this lift. The divided leg slings available at checkout come in Medium, Large, and Extra Large — if your patient is over 450 lbs, call us at 1-800-956-6616 before ordering a divided leg sling so we can confirm the right option for your patient’s weight. We want to make sure every sling purchased with this lift is the right one.
Will Medicare pay for this patient lift?
Medicare covers manual hydraulic patient lifts as durable medical equipment, but not electric lifts. If you're set on an electric lift, there's a path worth knowing about: Medicare may reimburse you for what it would have paid toward a comparable manual lift, and you pay the difference. The catch is that any Medicare benefit requires the purchase to go through a Medicare-enrolled DMEPOS supplier — which ADHME is not. If maximizing your Medicare benefit is the priority, we'd recommend going that route instead.
Private insurance: Many private insurers cover electric patient lifts when prescribed as medically necessary by a physician. ADHME doesn't bill insurance directly, but provides a detailed paid invoice with the HCPCS code that you can submit to your private insurer for reimbursement. Contact your insurer before ordering to confirm your coverage and any required documentation.
HSA and FSA: Patient lifts are generally eligible expenses under Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts. The paid invoice ADHME provides serves as your documentation for reimbursement.
Use HCPCS Code E0635 when submitting to your private insurer for reimbursement.
