Before you can choose the best type of hospital bed mattress for you, you first need answers to these questions:
- How much time per day will the patient be spending in bed?
- Can the patient shift positions independently?
- How many months will they need to use a hospital bed?
- How much does the patient weigh?
- How much muscle mass do they have?
When you have those answers, you’re ready to make a selection because each mattress type was designed to meet each need. We're written a comprehensive "Hospital Bed Mattress Buying Guide" to help you pick the RIGHT mattress for your unique needs. Check it out.
Here's how we break down our hospital bed category:
Innerspring & Foam Mattresses
Innerspring mattresses are your low-cost option. They the best choice for patients who can roll over on their own, are not significantly over or underweight, and do not spend a significant amount of time in bed.
An innerspring mattress with a foam top is a good choice for patients who can roll over on their own, even if they spend a significant amount of time in bed. We carry anti-bacterial and water-resistant innerspring hospital bed mattresses.
Multi-layer mattresses are best for those who spend most of their time in bed, or who cannot shift position independently. The Invacare Softform Excel and Premier mattresses and Mason ShearCare mattresses are some examples of the high quality, multi-layered foam mattresses we sell that are made to help prevent bed sores based on their construction.
Air mattresses are your best choice for comfort. This type of hospital bed mattress is best for those who spend most of their time in bed, who cannot shift position independently, and who want or need the optimum in comfort.
Alternating Pressure, Low Air Loss and Lateral Rotation (turning) or lateral rotating air mattresses are designed to aid in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers (also called bed sores) and are perfect for hospital beds.
Alternating pressure pads and gel foam mattress overlays are a less expensive alternative to air mattresses and attach to an existing hospital bed mattress.

What if I don't like it? What is your return policy?
Some products by law cannot be returned for hygienic reasons.. Those products are marked accordingly on the product page. For all others, we offer a 30-day return policy on most products. All returns and/or exchanges must have prior authorization. If you received a damaged product, you may return and exchange that product at no cost to you. All others will be shipped at the customer’s expense to the least costly location as determined by ADHME. A 15-20% restocking fee will also apply depending on the item. To return products, call customer service at 800-956-6616 for instructions and details.
You said you will match price if I found a cheaper price elsewhere. What do I need to do to get that low price?
Please verify with the business, where you found a cheaper price, the TOTAL cost to you, including any additional option costs and shipping costs. Please make note of their website address prior to contacting us because we will need it to verify the price. Be aware, many web (e-commerce) retailers do not include shipping with the price of their products. Or, they may have a lower cost of a particular product (i.e., wheelchair) but it will not include a necessary option (i.e., footrests). Be forewarned about all the fine print.
Some restrictions apply. For example, we may not be able to compete with "big box" stores such as Amazon or Walmart. But sometimes you may find that our advertised price is already lower than theirs!
Do you bill Medicare?
In order to keep our costs down and offer greatly reduced prices, ADHME does not bill any insurance company. However, for certain products that Medicare may partially reimburse on a purchase (i.e., commodes, lift chairs, walkers and rollators), we do provide a detailed paid invoice which will include any product HCPCS billing codes. We suggest checking with your private insurance company about possible reimbursement from them with your paid receipt.
